QCA recently assisted the owner of an aircraft avionics shop (Ohio Avionics) to become a certified FAA repair station, allowing them now to perform avionics radio and instrument certifications – only permitted by FAA authorized repair stations. The documentation required to become a FAA repair station is quite similar to an ISO QMS implementation, only the FAA certification process is quite different and more challenging.
Having driven the process and contributed heavily to the development and refinement of the repair station procedures, quality control manual and training program, numerous supporting forms and lists to satisfy the FAA’s requirements, QCA now offers assistance to others in creating, upgrading and maintaining their repair station manuals and related documentation.
In addition to knowing how to develop repair station documentation, we are also intimately familiar with the FAA’s certification process, myriad of applications, submission forms, their document submittal system (SAS) and document review system (DCT). Let QCA help you remove the uncertainty & pain and reduce the time needed to establish a new or upgrade an older repair station.
How QCA can help
- Creating the many documents needed to establish a new FAA repair station
- Bring an existing repair station with older documentation up to standard
- Transition a repair station from one owner to a new owner
- Respond to discrepancies identified by the FAA
- Receive guidance on navigating the FAA’s new SAS (document submittal system) and responding to DCTs (aligning repair station documentation with the expectations of the FAA).
